What are handmade shoes?
Handmade shoes – the phrase itself reveals its essence – shoes that are made entirely by hand. The phrase has distant roots and goes back to a time when handcrafting was the only option, when there were no machines to help with production. Nowadays, almost everything is made by machine to save time and costs, but unfortunately, this means that the quality of the product suffers.
Unlike factory-made shoes, handmade shoes use only the best materials: the leather will be real leather, and the seams will be joined with wax thread for increased durability. Finally, the manufacturing process is slow, which means that the leather will adhere to the model longer, resulting in a better fit.
Superior materials mean that handmade shoes will last much longer than factory-made shoes. The leather will have fewer wrinkles, the thread will stay in place, and there will generally be fewer signs of wear. A pair of shoes like this will also save you money - they may be a little more expensive to buy than a factory pair of shoes, but they will last you much longer than any other pair, so you won't need to replace them anytime soon.

Leather from French tanneries

Like many global brands, we purchase the best leather in the world for the production of our products only from French tanneries. These are the world leaders - Tanneries Annonay and Tanneries Du Puy.
And, despite the fact that both tanneries were recently acquired by the famous French house HERMÉS, we remain a regular buyer of calfskin from Tanneries Annonay and Tanneries Du Puy.
They have been engaged in the craft of leather tanning since the 12th century.
And they specialize in the production of box calf leather and unpainted crust leather.
The raw material for box calf leather is high-quality calfskins with a minimum number of defects and scars. And unpainted crust leather is used to produce shoes, which in the hands of skilled craftsmen at the factory undergo a stage of manual tinting with paints using the artistic technique of patination.
